Trophies Up for Grabs
With the SsangYong New Zealand Superbike Road Race Championships drawing to a close this weekend, a number of trophies are up for grabs. Not only are the New Zealand Road Race titles being awarded, the New Zealand Tourist Trophies will also be run this weekend March 10/11 at Pukekohe Park.
To
cap off a fantastic season, the following trophies will also
be awarded. The Manufacturer’s Trophies in both Superbikes
and 600 Sports Production and the much-coveted RK Chain
Trophy
Manufacturer’s Trophy
In 2006, Motorcycling
New Zealand’s Road Race Commissioner Paul Stewart
instigated a Manufacturers Championship to be run in
conjunction with the SsangYong New Zealand Superbike Road
Race Championships for New Zealand’s Premier road race
classes (Production Superbikes and 600 Sports
Production).
This season so far, Suzuki is leading
in the Superbike class and Yamaha is leading the 600 Sports
Production class.
This weekend will see sum amasing
racing and one of the Manufacturers triumphant.
The
RK Chain Trophy:
The RK Chain Trophy is donated by W
Whites Ltd and awarded to the highest points scoring
Superbike rider running RK Chain during the 2007 SsangYong
New Zealand Superbike Championship.
The highly decorative
Samurai helmet is present each year, making an impressive
addition to any rider’s trophy cabinet; so far this year
the charge is being lead by Honda’s Hayden Fitzgerald from
New
Plymouth.
