Alan Taylor was inspired to paint this latest series Cooks Landings following on from his previous exhibition Navigators which explored the birth of New Zealand with the discovery of Aotearoa.
Cooks Landings delve into the
first encounter exploring this event and how this has made
us who we are today, The cross cultural meeting of 2 two
people coexisting as one, with his in-depth knowledge on 19
century Maori and incorporating his unique iconography
Taylor takes us on a journey of self discovery on a personal
level but also to look at ourselves as an interacting
community that thrives not on an uncertain past but with a
vision to optimistic future.
