Fresh FM to provide Americas Cup reports
As racing gets under way in the Louis Vuitton Cup series, Fresh FM listeners will be right up with the play, thanks to the station having its own reporter covering the 2007 Americas Cup.
Former Nelsonian Lorraine MacIntosh is living 50Km north of Valencia, where she and her husband (a sail maker with the 1999 Bravo Espana Challenge) have a small sail loft.
A former President of Commerce Nelson, Lorraine still has strong ties to Nelson and says she is delighted to have the opportunity to file reports with a local perspective.
“I will be sending daily reports during racing and certainly keeping in mind my Nelson listeners, looking for local angles,” she said. “For example, the General Manager of Prada is Anthony Romano, from Nelson, and Emirates TeamNZ have an ex-Marlborough crew member. If any Nelson people are coming to see racing or know of other locals involved I’d love to hear about it.”
Fresh FM
Station Manager Mike Williams says it’s a real coup for
the station to have a reporter on the spot.
“Lorraine
is fully accredited and will be right there in the media
centre at Valencia, with full access to all the drama both
on and off the water,” he said. “As an independent
reporter, Lorraine will provide us with a unique view of
what happens and what it all means. We’re extremely lucky
to have her there – I don’t know of any other New
Zealand radio station like ours doing this.”
Reports will be on air at 9.55am (repeated at 5.55pm) each day following racing in both the Louis Vuitton Cup and the Americas Cup series.
