AN INTELLECTUAL ARRAY OF WITTY OBSERVATIONS
After achieving critical and commercial success at Melbourne, Adelaide and New Zealand Festivals in 2006 with “Rock Plus Roll”, and after several years asking the big questions in shows like “If You Want Me, I’ll Be In The Bar”, leading stand up Jeremy Elwood turns the spotlight on himself, and asks the biggest question of all. Just who the hell does he think he is?
Born in Canada, raised in the UK, and now having lived in NZ for over 15 years, Elwood has spent his life as “that guy with the funny accent”. How have the various surroundings and events he’s been exposed to shaped him, as a performer, and as a person? How did a well educated boy from a good family become a stand up comedian? Where do his politics come from? Do US customs find it amusing when you change identities mid-flight?
Jeremy Elwood is perhaps NZ’s most travelled stand up, having performed in the UK, Australia, Singapore, North America, East Timor, and most recently the Caribbean. Along the way, he has won numerous awards for his comedy. “Passport Control” is his most personal show to date, and the culmination of far too many hours in transit.
