MEDIA RELEASE For Immediate Release Thursday 9 May 2007
Bonus Bonds’ first millionaire hails from the Wairarapa
Bonus Bonds’ first millionaire hails from the Wairarapa. The lucky winner was contacted today following the May Bonus Bonds monthly prize draw, and the first to include the top $1 million cash prize.
“When I phoned to congratulate the winner their initial reaction was to be both delighted and probably a little bit shocked!,” Head of Bonus Bonds, Mark Pickering said.
The winner remains anonymous but was happy to share that “I got into Bonus Bonds for a fun way to bank with a chance to win big - and now I'm a millionaire". Continues Pickering, "today's call to our winner was the nicest phone call I've made all year - it's not often you get to phone someone and tell them they've won a million dollars. Even better is that from now, we'll be making a call like that every month!" Bonus Bonds presents a $1 million cash prize to one winning Bond holder every month as part of a total tax-paid prize pool of over $6 million – made up of more than 200,000 individual cash prizes.
Nearly a quarter of New Zealanders own Bonus Bonds. Bonus Bonds holders who weren’t successful this month should not be too disappointed, as there is always next month, when the $1m prize will be drawn again, as will around 200,000 smaller denomination prizes. Bonus Bonds once purchased and held for a complete calendar month are automatically entered into every prize draw month after month for as long as they continue to be held.
Statistically the chance for a Bond holder to win a cash prize in each monthly draw is between 1 in 9600 and 1 in 11,000. For more information about Bonus Bonds and a copy of the registered prospectus and Bonus Bonds terms and conditions, go to www.bonusbonds.co.nz or any ANZ branch or local PostShop.
