And The Lucky Winners Are Being Connected…

For the first time Sport Waitakere has offered three successful applicants a scholarship to the value of $500 each to attend the upcoming national SPARC Connecting Coaches Convention in Wellington on 25 – 27 May.
The successful recipients are:
- Liz Page, Netball, Kelston
Girls College
Has coached the Kelston Girls Premier
Netball team who placed 3rd in the West Auckland Schools and
16th in North Island Competition. Liz has also coached the
Western Bandits Club. This team placed first in the West
Auckland club competition. Liz enjoys coaching youth and
looks forward to developing her skills further.
- Godfrey
Rudolph, Rugby, Auckland Rugby
Is the Auckland Maori
Under 21 coach and they were placed 3rd in this year’s
Northern Regional Maori tournament. AS a beginner coach
Godfrey is very keen to develop his skills further and
continue to progress in the sport of rugby.
- Pauline
Vercoe-Curtis, Athletics, Waitakere Athletics & Harrier
Club.
As the middle distance running coach Pauline has a
group of approximately 25 young athletes. Pauline was
responsible for the re starting of Waitakere Harrier Club.
She has had numerous results including one National runner
up and five Auckland champs. Pauline often calls on the
skills of other coaches in areas such as pilates to help her
athletes reach their full potential.
To be eligible for the scholarships the coaches had to coach a team or individual within Waitakere City.
Sport Waitakere CEO Lynette Adams says, “we believe it is vital that coaches have ongoing support, recognition and skill development. This conference will provide these coaches with a great opportunity to meet like minded people of all levels while growing their own knowledge.”
