Possums in the spotlight at Fieldays
Possums are in demand again this winter, as the Fieldays Possum Fur Fashion Award returns to Fieldays.
Entries are open for the competition, which challenges designers to create fashion garments and accessories made out of treated possum fur.
2006 Award winner, Dulcie Barton has shown the flexibility of possum fur in recent years showing a range of entries ranging from jackets and skirts to hats, trimmed with flowers also made of possum fur. Her entries are hand-sewn, and make the most of the services of Possum Fur Fashion Design Award sponsor, Gray Fur Trading, who provide natural and dyed possum fur at discounted rates for the competition.
Putting possum fur on parade pays off. Standout garments will be modeled in a high-energy, professional runway show, running from 3pm daily at Fieldays, 13 – 16 June. The winner will take home the Possum Fur Fashion Design Award trophy and a $1,200 cash prize.
Entries for the Fieldays Possum Fur Fashion Design Award close 1 June 2007. Information and entry forms are available from www.fieldays.co.nz.
