KidsFest coming to town
KidsFest coming to town
Thousands of families will be transporting themselves to more than 190 fantastic kids’ events at more than 70 different Christchurch locations during the sixteenth annual TV2 KidsFest.
Organised by the Christchurch City Council on behalf of the KidsFest Trust, this year TV2 KidsFest is expected to be even bigger than 2006, which sold about 75,800 tickets.
The travel-tastic festival runs from Saturday June 30 to Friday July 13, kicking off with The Great Solid Energy Transport Parade showcasing the festival’s transportation theme. Spectators will enjoy a display of vintage trucks, cars, the TV2 bus, fire engines, tractors and even a tram decorated by a school group.
So far entries have been flooding in for the Starfest talent competition. Open to individuals 12 years and under or family group acts, entrants can sing, dance, act, or even juggle their way to local fame in front of audiences from throughout Canterbury.
There are 5000 free tickets available for the Star Fest semi-finals and finals in the Christchurch Town Hall on Thursday July 12 and Friday July 13, with heats beginning in Christchurch malls from Saturday June 9. The major prize is a trip for two adults and two children to Singapore. Register your act now and start practising.
The Town Hall Ticketek box office opens for TV2 KidsFest on Saturday 16 June. Air Force Rescue, Townsend Observatory and Uni For Kids events are sure to be in hot demand. Also look out for the TV2 Bus at malls around the city on weekends in June to win free TV2 KidsFest tickets for events such as Starfest, Fire Fighter for a Day, or Bells to Basement Cathedral Tours.
TV2 KidsFest brochures are available from tomorrow in schools, libraries, Council Service Centres or on the KidsFest website. Get your hands on one and start planning your school holiday family adventures.
