Proudly Presents
His Mother’s Son
A comedy by Leilani Unasa

What happens when you just can’t get a drink in hospital? A grown man who doesn’t recognise his own mother, a mother who fails to recognise that her young son is a man and one hell of a scary nurse!

A hotbed of confusion, drama, tears and laughter.

His Mother’s Son is a comic and sometimes serious look at how the mothers and sons of the Siaosi family cope with being just that - ‘family’.

Tasi lies sick in hospital suffering delusions, partly from his illness and partly from being sober for the first time in years. With no one coming to visit him, Tasi is forced to see the impact he’s made on his family’s lives and how they really feel about him.

Auckland is about to experience the second season of His Mother’s Son, which follows hot on the heels of its successful premiere at this year’s Wellington Fringe Festival. Kylie Brown (Producer) and Leilani Unasa (Writer/Producer) of Chickenhead are committed to presenting quality work onstage that gives voice to Maori and Pacific stories. With respected theatre director, Katrina Chandra on board and cast including some of New Zealand’s established and emerging talent (Dianna Fuemana, Aleni Tufuga, Helen Jones and Jonathan Riley), His Mother’s Son is sure to be a critically comedic experience.

Don’t miss His Mothers Son June 13 – 17, Maidment Studio, Auckland.
It’ll make you feel a whole lot better about your own family!

Season runs from Wednesday 13 June – Sunday 17 June 2007 at Musgrove Studio, Maidment Theatre, 8 Alfred St, AUCKLAND. Tickets: $25 and $20 available from Maidment Theatre (09) 308 23 83 or online: maidmentbooking[at]auckland.ac.nz
