Mark Cromie seeks 5th world river race title

New Zealands most crowned World Jet boat river racing Campaigner Mark Cromie will team up with international jet boat expedition leader Duncan Storrier tomorrow in Canada in an attempt to take out an unprecedented 5th world title.
Cromie a Northland Holden Dealer has entered 18 world marathons in 4 countries in a Jet Boat Marathon racing career that started in 1976.
This
year Mark Cromie will team up with Duncan Storrier of
Ashburton, a successful pairing that won the 1996 World
Championship.
Duncan Storrier is more recently known
for leading Jet Boat expeditions in Africa, India, Bhutan
and Nepal retracing the footsteps of Sir Edmond
Hillary.
The campaign of Mark Cromie 2007 will see a new level of technology in the world of Jet Boat Racing, with an electronic engine management system monitored by telemetry back to Australia while running in Canada. This boat is supported by a crew of 12 specialists including laptop technicians. The technology allows the modern craft to reach speeds exceeding 190km per hour, for a duration of over 800 kms in one week of racing.
The Canadian Marathon has one of the Largest in international fields, with competitors from five countries. New Zealand has ten competitors in this field, each with a support team – the largest NZ contingent to challenge the World Title off shore.
