Elissa Ramsay At Toi O Tahuna Fine Art Gallery

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Elissa Ramsay At Toi O Tahuna Fine Art Gallery

Toi o Tahuna fine art gallery will be holding an exhibition in their Church Lane gallery showcasing Wanaka artist Elissa Ramsay.

Elissa was born and educated in Australia and is now a permanent resident in Wanaka, New Zealand. Since studying she has travelled extensively. During this time she sketched and collected material constantly, experimenting with different mediums, influences, and concepts that she now uses as a resource for her constantly evolving inspiration. The end result is a form of sculptural painting using a technique she calls liquid glass

The exhibition is titled 'Waiting Room'. The waiting room is an easily accessible and comfortable place, it is the consequence of reality where mind entertains the trivial and fantastical to bide the time while enduring mundane tasks. It is about waiting at the station, waiting on a bus for the destination that seems too far away, waiting in slow motion, waiting. Each art work acts as a visual catalyst for this theory. There are 13 works in this exhibition each telling a very different story to the next. Although Elissa has experimented with new techniques, she has stayed true to her unique style and taken her lead from her many and varied materials.

The exhibition will run from 6 July until 15 July 2007 with a preview on the evening of Thursday 5 July, 5.30pm - 7.30pm.
