Additional RSC King Lear for Wellington
Due to unprecedented public demand there will be a third performance of the Royal Shakespeare Company’s production of King Lear in Wellington on Monday 13th August 2007.
“The first two shows have sold out and there has been a lot of pressure to extend the season,” said Celia Walmsley CEO Westpac St James Theatre.
“As the company is committed to their Auckland season the only way we could fit in another King Lear was to replace the first performance of The Seagull,” she said.
This means Wellington audiences will get to see Sir Ian McKellen in all three performances of King Lear, as well as playing the part of Sorin in The Seagull on Tuesday 14th August.
Both shows feature a tremendous line up of familiar faces including Frances Barber, William Gaunt, Sylvester McCoy, Jonathon Hyde and the new hot young star of the movie Amazing Grace, Romola Garai.
People who have bought tickets to the Monday 13th August performance of The Seagull may change their tickets to the following night by contacting Ticketek 04 384 4840 or take their tickets into the point of purchase to change or refund.
