The Telecom 39th Auckland International Film Festival is delighted to announce the inaugural MEET THE FILMMAKERS series. Five forums designed to give audiences a greater insight into the film makers, their process and films – don’t miss out.

New Zealand Film Festival (NZFF) in association with SPADA (Screen Producers and Directors Association) presents

In Conversation with Tony Ayres.
Wednesday 18 July 2007 at 6:00pm

Tony Ayres, acclaimed Australian writer / director of The Home Song Stories talks with NZ filmmaker Annie Goldson about the filmmaking process and the journey from script to screen.

Ayres is the recent recipient of the screenplay prize at the NSW Premiers Literary awards for his script for The Home Song Stories, and has previously directed Walking On Water, which won the Teddy Award a the 2002 Berlin Film Festival, five Australian Film Institute (AFI) Awards and two Australian Film Critics Circle Awards. He also wrote and directed the multi award winning documentary Sadness (1999)

Screenwriter / director Taika Waititi (Two Cars, One Night, Tama Tu & Eagle vs. Shark) continues his singular, subversive and glittering career with this deliciously tangy, deadpan feature debut. Taika will talk with Ant about the transition from writing shorts to feature length scripts, his participation in the renowned Sundance Screenwriters lab in Utah and his experience in taking Eagle vs. Shark to festivals and audiences around the globe.

Award winning NZ documentary maker Leanne Pooley chairs this discussion.
