Come and listen to Jan Wilker, co-founder of
internationally renowned New York design agency

started, what it was like working at world-famous NY design
studio Sagmeister Inc., and what happened when he partnered
with Hjalti Karlsson to form his own design agency, write a
book, and work with big names like MTV, Puma, Warner Bros,
New York Times, Museum of Modern Art, & The
Guggenheim.

Joe Lambert is a digital storytelling pioneer and
the founding director of the Centre for Digital Storytelling
in Berkley, California. Since 1994, Joe has promoted a
method of participatory media practice that has spread
around the globe as a new form of grassroots communication.
Joe has delivered his world-renowned Digital Storytelling
Workshop in 45 US states and 20 countries, assisting in the
completion of more than 10,000 video works. See:

Since 1994, Ecostore has
developed and brought to the NZ market a leading range of
eco friendly household cleaners, body care, pet care and
organic gardening products. These are now available in most
supermarkets and health stores throughout NZ, and in over
400 stores in Australia, Korea, Singapore Hong Kong and the
UK. Ecostore founder and CEO Malcolm Rands will tell his
story about the success of Ecostore and about design and
sustainability.

Douglas Lloyd Jenkins is a creative force in
New Zealand design. Described by Wallpaper Magazine as one
of the most influential design writers in the Southern
Hemisphere, he has written 40 Legends of New Zealand Design,
and At Home: A century of New Zealand Design. He is well
known through his columns in the New Zealand Herald and Home
& Entertaining and will speak on Spark’s finale day...

Spark 07 is Wintec’s annual week-long international festival of media, arts and design. The festival is a celebration of creativity involving international and New Zealand artists, musicians, filmmakers, authors, photographers, designers, and media personalities. The festival includes presentations, workshops, exhibitions, events and screenings designed to inspire, stimulate ideas, and nourish creative thinking.
This year, Wintec is throwing open it’s doors to Spark 07. All tertiary students, academics, high school groups with teachers, and members of the public are all welcome to come to Spark 07 free of charge. Organised by Wintec’s Centre for Creative Industries with support from the Schools of Media Arts & Communication, the festival runs for 5 days from August 6-10 2007.
