BurgerFuel B.A.R.F.s up cash for NZ Music

Fast-growing New Zealand based gourmet burger retailer BurgerFuel is giving one New Zealand band $17,000 cash.

BurgerFuel donated10c from every burger sold in the New Zealand music month of May to the BurgerFuel Artist Recording Fund (B.A.R.F) to assist a budding Kiwi musician or group to further their careers.

Marketing Manager, Aaron Carson, says music is a huge part of the BurgerFuel experience and features heavily in BurgerFuel stores.

“We wanted to do something for the local music scene that really benefited up and coming New Zealand bands. We also wanted to let the public decide who should get the $17,000. This is as much about introducing new New Zealand music to people as it is about helping out a particular band.” says Mr Carson.

Eleven bands have made the shortlist and full details and music from each can be found at www.burgerfuel.co.nz.

Mr Carson says voting will take place in all BurgerFuel stores in New Zealand from Monday 13th August and every person who votes will go into the draw to win an $11,000 stereo. The competition closes on September 16th.

The bands who made the short list are: The Ruby Suns, Artisan Guns, Surf City, The Vietnam War, Holiday With Friends, Collapsing Cities, The Whipping Cats, White Birds And Lemons, The Bengal Lights, Cut Off Your Hands and Labretta Suede and The Motel Six.

BurgerFuel is also taking Kiwi music across the Tasman, playing New Zealand music in its recently opened store in Newtown, Sydney. Kiwi music will also be on the menu at the second store the company is opening shortly under the famous iconic Coca Cola sign in Kings Cross.

Mr Carson says Australia is the initial focus of BurgerFuel’s international expansion. After that it plans on introducing its stylish burgers and Kiwi music to people in other foreign markets.
