The PRO PLAN Kirsty Burns Sled Dog
Race
Celebrating Five Years of Dog Sledding
Action
The fifth year of the PRO PLAN Kirsty Burns
Sled Dog Race promises to deliver plenty of non-stop action,
with more than 50 dogs entering this year’s event and
excellent snow conditions.
The three-day event, which
takes place at the picturesque
Alpine Snow farm in the
Cadrona Valley, Wanaka, is set to get underway on Thursday
30 August 2007, starting at 7.30am daily.
Sponsored by Nestle Purina Petcare, the event involves sled dog teams from around the country. Teams can compete in a four or six dog class, with several teams entered in both. The Kirsty Burn event is for the serious competitor, with the race consisting of three, 15 kilometre heats.
Nestlé Purina Petcare Trade Marketing Manager, Neil Robb, said that the solid snow base has set up great track conditions that will be sure to result in competitive racing and close results, with more snow expected leading up to the race.
“Ultimately the success of the PRO PLAN Kirsty Burns Sled Dog Race is due to the ongoing support and enthusiasm of spectators, sponsors and competitors.
“But great snow certainly helps!”
The event concludes on 1 September with the winning teams being honoured at a prize winning ceremony.
