New Zealand Radio Drama Awards 2007

New Zealand Radio Drama Awards 2007

If you're old enough to remember Dad and Dave or young enough to enjoy Storytime you'll know that radio is a great way to give the imagination a workout.

Local writers and some from further afield have now sent in their scripts for this year's New Zealand Radio Drama Awards, and a foot-stomping, hand-clapping, belly-laughing audience is needed to take part in the live recording of the finalists.

"This event has been running in Nelson for the last five years and is going from strength to strength," said producer Kim Merry. "It's time to treat yourself to a blast from the past and come along, watch as the winning entries are turned into dramatic delights in front of your eyes and enjoy the pleasure of listening to live actors become several characters in the space of just a few minutes."

Kim said the age of writers entered this year ranged from 7 year olds to adults - promising a night of unique entertainment.

The New Zealand Radio Drama Awards' show is on Saturday night, 7.30pm September 1, at St Johns in the City, Nelson.

Kim said this wonderful heritage venue would provide a great acoustic for live recording and performance, as well as guaranteeing to meet the demand for seats that saw last year's show sell out.

The successful plays will be broadcast on Fresh FM and other community radio stations.

Tickets are on sale at Everyman records and Fresh Fm in Collingwood Street - $14 adult and $8 child.
