BrewNZ offers up a taste of NZ’s finest beers.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

BrewNZ offers up a taste of NZ’s finest beers.

Wellington, August 29, 2007. On Sunday the 9th of September 2007 top local and international beer judges will meet in Wellington and begin the process to find New Zealand’s Supreme Beer. It’s part of the 2007 BrewNZ awards, co-ordinated by The Brewers Guild of New Zealand.

The NZ Craft beer scene has grown exponentially in the past few years, following a similar trajectory to the wine industry. If overseas trends are anything to go by we can expect this sector to continue to grow and beer drinkers to begin consuming less beer, but demanding a more sophisticated and crafted product. BrewNZ 2007 will showcase the finest examples NZ brewers have to offer.

Among the judges travelling from overseas to sample New Zealand’s finest at BrewNZ are Dave Logsdon, of Wyeast, a leading supplier of yeast varieties to the top breweries in the world and Derek Walsh, respected beer creator, writer and traveller. These men have vast experience in the beer world and will offer that global perspective as to how our beers rate on the world stage.

BrewNZ celebrations include “Mashing In” at Wellington’s famous Malthouse on Tuesday night and the BrewNZ Awards party on Wednesday, held at Shed 22. On Thursday the public can meet the brewers at Taste BrewNZ, held in the West Gallery of the Old Town Hall. We have limited press tickets still available for these events, please contact us should you be interested in attending.

The Brewers Guild is committed to developing the New Zealand brewing industry and helping create a vibrant, responsible beer culture. If there are any questions you have regarding the above or more information you’d like we’re happy to help.
