Happy Father's Day wishes from
Plunket
Plunket acknowledges the key role of father's
in giving children the best start in life and sends best
Father's Day wishes to all fathers across New Zealand.
"It is great to hear so many dads ring up PlunketLine and being involved in their children's development. Thanks to all the dads out there. You are an important part of your family and your children's life. Happy Father's Day!" says Jo MacRae, PlunketLine.
Traditionally the mother has been seen as the primary caregiver and this has resulted in many services over the years being directed to women. However, Plunket recognises New Zealand families are changing, with fathers wanting to have more direct involvement in raising their children. Through Plunket many fathers now get involved with parent education programmes, coffee groups and volunteer committees.
"Being a dad is great fun but also a lot of responsibility. It is great to have this special day to celebrate and value the role of dads. My three children keep me busy and now I can understand and appreciate the time my dad spent with me, my brothers and my sister when we were kids." says Grant Morgan, father of 3, Hamilton.
