NHNZ Emmy Nominations 2007
More Emmy nominations have been garnered by Natural History New Zealand for EQUATOR, the ground breaking documentary series that reveals and celebrates the rich natural life of the tropics.
With previous Emmy wins for cinematography and writing and annual nominations for everything from music to animation, NHNZ has become a regular at New York's Emmy Awards.
The multi-million dollar six part EQUATOR series was shot in High Definition by NHNZ and the Japanese broadcaster NHK.
This year two episodes of EQUATOR have been recognized with News and Documentary Emmy nominations.
Nominated for Outstanding Individual Achievement in a Craft: Music & Sound are musician Trevor Coleman, and audio director Errol Samuelson for their work on EQUATOR: River of the Sun. This episode was set in the underwater world of the flooded Amazon.
Nominated for Outstanding Individual Achievement in a Craft: Cinematography are Richard Fitzpatrick and Kohji Ozaki for EQUATOR: Reef of Riches. This episode was filmed almost exclusively underwater on the coral reefs of Borneo.
NHNZ Managing Director, Michael Stedman says "EQUATOR'S continuing accolades are a delightful and well earned recognition of NHNZ's status as the world's leading independent producer of high-end nature series. Broadcasters and their audiences will always want such exquisite programs and NHNZ will continue to use the latest technologies to re-invent the genre".
NHNZ's manager of development Craig Meade and NHNZ's North American marketing executive Shera Jenne will be attending the awards in New York on Monday 24 September along with execs from Discovery HD Theatre who were the US co-producers.
