3 People, 2900 Km, 1 Step At A Time

This Saturday, New Zealander Alice Smith and Americans Dennis Behan and Lane Schaffer will begin their 5 month journey, hiking the length of New Zealand in support of Project K.

Averaging 25kms a day, the group will start at Cape Reinga on the 23rd; pass through Auckland in October, Wellington in mid December, before finishing in Invercargill at the end of February.

As part of their hike Alice, Dennis and Lane will raise money for Project K, encouraging the public to visit their website www.nzunderfoot.com and make a donation.

Project K founded by Graeme Dingle and Jo-anne Wilkinson is a unique youth development programme that uses the wilderness, local community and one-on-one mentoring to teach and inspire teens to reach their full potential.

Alice Smith says “We want to create our own epic journey and a memory we would never forget, while encouraging others to get involved in the outdoors.”

“We admire the way Project K uses the wilderness to teach students valuable life skills and lessons and are keen to support them on our journey.”

The group will map their progress on their website www.nzunderfoot.com and will be welcomed and supported by Project K staff and students at key destinations along the way.
