Election ’07 goes international
In a first for local body election coverage, Community Radio Hamilton’s Election ‘07 special will be the first place for listeners both here and abroad to hear results of the Waikato elections, via the station’s live internet feed available at www.communityradio.co.nz.
From 2-4pm on Saturday, 13 October a team of volunteer broadcasters will present live in-depth coverage of the campaign for Hamilton City Council, Environment Waikato, and the Waikato District Health Board featuring interviews with candidates and guest commentators. Election results will be announced as soon as they become available, and Community Radio Hamilton hopes to speak to Hamilton’s new Mayor within minutes of the results becoming public. Listeners will also be able to contribute their own comments on the studio phone line 07 834 1206.
“Covering the election, on the day, here in Hamilton, demonstrates the truly local nature of community Access radio,” says Community Radio Hamilton general manager Phil Grey. “We’ve been delighted to host many of the candidates in the lead up to the election, and, like all of them, urge Hamilton voters to have their say.”
Community Radio Hamilton provides a regular forum for national and local politics with the weekly radio shows
Left, Right, and Centre (8-10am, Mondays), and Council Comment (11am-12pm, Thursdays).
