Milwaukee Power Tools To Support Top Series Prospect
Milwaukee Power Tools will sponsor young Christchurch racing driver Andy Knight throughout the upcoming summer of motor racing in New Zealand. Knight will drive his Milwaukee Power Tools Toyota in the 2007/2008 Toyota Racing Series.
Milwaukee, one of the world's premium power tool brands, is proud to be associated with Knight and the Knight Motorsport Team in the Toyota Racing Series.
"It is a great prospect that such a famous worldwide brand should join with one of New Zealand's most famous motorsport families. We are proud to be associated with such a quality racing team and look forward to the season ahead with great anticipation," said Rob Deed the Brand Manager of Techtronic Industries today.
The Knight family name has been synonomous with motorsport success for over fifty years. Andy's grandfather Peter Knight Senior won numerous powerboat titles in New Zealand, Australia and the United States as did his father Peter (P.G. Knight). P.G. Knight was also extremely successful in powerful TraNZam Saloons on the racing circuits of New Zealand.
Knight Motorsport Team Manager P.G. Knight said today, "we are really excited at being associated with a premier brand in Milwaukee Power Tools. They have great people and a great product and have real enthusiasm. Our team shares the same values as the company and we are proud to help promote Milwaukee Power Tools in New Zealand.
Knight is one of the early favourites for the 2007/2008 title after finishing in the top four each year the series has been held. The young Cantabrian also holds the class lap record at both the Manfeild circuit near Palmerston North and the Timaru International Motor Raceway. Knight has also raced with success in Australia and the United States.
This year's championship features seven rounds including races for two of New Zealand's most important trophies, the Lady Wigram Trophy Race in Christchurch on 5/6 January and the New Zealand Grand Prix one week later at Manfeild. The series will also race as part of the programme at the A1-GP World Cup Of Motorsport event at Taupo, also in January while a non - championship trophy race will be held as part of the V8 Supercar event in Hamilton during April.
