$4.5 million Big Wednesday Win Results in Burnt Dinner and Sleepless Night

A local Fielding family spent a sleepless night after realising they won a massive $4.5 million Big Wednesday prize package sold in the town.

The family claimed their big prize in Wellington today.

"I was cooking dinner yesterday, when my husband yelled out that we had the winning Big Wednesday ticket. I just said 'Yeah right' and carried on in the kitchen," the winning woman said.

"But he was right! And in all the excitement the dinner eventually got burnt and we had to have takeaways instead," she said.

"I had teased my wife earlier in the week that I had the winning ticket - and it turned out to be true. I could not believe my eyes when I saw the row of correct numbers at first", the husband said.

"We have never owned our own home - so this win will be able to make that dream come true for us. We will also be able to help out our family.

"In the meantime, we plan to put the money in the bank and enjoy a great New Year's party and a special family holiday," he said.

The winning ticket was sold at Feilding Video Centre in Feilding and was worth $4,247,140. The prize package is made up of $2 million in cash, an Aston Martin V8 Vantage, an Audi Q7, a $250,000 AMEX Platinum card, $250,000 worth of luxury travel, a Rayglass legend 2500 boat, a $500,000 luxury holiday home and a $750,000 luxury apartment.

In addition, the winning family also won $269,748 on Big Wednesday's second division.

"We are just rapt that this big prize has gone to a local family," said Tracey from Fielding Video Centre.
