Ben’s Back With New Song

MEDIA RELEASE – January 28, 2008

Ben’s Back With New Song

2006 New Zealand Idol finalist Ben Hazlewood will be singing his new song ‘HIT YOU’ on the main stage at Porirua’s Festival of the Elements on Waitangi Day.

Ben has gone solo, and released the demo single in December. It is now receiving airplay around New Zealand, and in the Bay of Plenty it is already being played on the local radio station’s top ten,

The demo was produced by Geoff Duncan, who won a Tui at the latest NZ Music Awards for best album.

“It's an awesome opportunity to perform in my hometown in front of the people who have supported me from the beginning,” says Ben.

"My demo has had great interest from industry promoters, so keep an eye out for me in the near future,” he says.

Ben also recently visited Sydney to test the waters there, and promote his new demo.

Festival Chairman Bob Cater says Ben is a favourite son of the Festival.

“He has built up an enviable record as a singer, actor and dancer, and he is still only eighteen years of age,” Mr Cater said.

Ben has performed with the Wellington Musical Theatre in Grease, Les Miserables, and West End to Broadway, and on television in The Tribe and Freaky.

He’ll be singing at the Festival shortly after 4pm.
