Racing Club announces new sponsor for iconic race.
The Auckland Racing Club today announced the confirmation of a major sponsorship partnership that will see the Auckland Cup become the Stella Artois Auckland Cup for the next two years. The announcement was made at a special event held at the conclusion of the premier session of the 2008 Karaka National Yearling Sales.
“The Club is delighted that New Zealand’s iconic race will be associated with one of this country’s premier brands” said Auckland Racing Club Chairman, Bill Gianotti. “The Club has enjoyed a wonderful relationship with Lion Nathan over many years and this exciting new sponsorship is a wonderful extension to the partnership”.
“It is appropriate that this announcement has been made to coincide with the premier session of the National Yearling Sales as a number of these young horses will be competing during Auckland Cup Week in the years to come” said Mr Gianotti.
"Stella Artois are proud to be associated with Auckland Cup Week as the naming rights sponsor of the Stella Artois Auckland Cup, New Zealand's premium racing and social event. This March event aligns perfectly with Stella Artois's premium values and we look forward to extending our involvement with racing through this sponsorship" said Nigel King, Stella Artois Marketing Manager.
The $700,000 Stella Artois Auckland Cup will be run at Ellerslie on Wednesday the 5th of March, the second day of the 2008 Auckland Cup Week.
