Comedian shuts up for Famine

Comedian Dave Wiggins is known for talking and he's good at it. Earlier this year a Waikato Times reviewer wrote, "What was truly amazing was his ability to talk non-stop for an hour, seemingly without talking a breath." So why would Wiggins decide to go 40 hours without saying a word? It's all to do with this year's World Vision 40 Hour Famine.

"I'm getting involved with the Famine again this year - I'm always moved to do my little bit to make a difference," Wiggins says. "We are all so lucky to be living in a place like New Zealand, where the basics of life, like food, shelter and water, come so easily to us."

While working on his new show for the NZ International Comedy Festival, Dave realised his work for World Vision and concept for his show were a perfect match. The new show focuses on life and what it means to be human and Dave has concluded being human means you deserve to have the basics of life. So this year's show will end with an appeal to sponsor Dave for his 40 Hour Famine.

"I want people to pay money to see me talk for an hour and then give money to see me not talk for 40," Wiggins explains.
