Quiz Night No Trivial Matter
Quiz Night No Trivial Matter
It isn’t every day that you have the opportunity to create history or to break a world record. And it is even rarer to be in the running to share in over $10,000 in prizes by doing so.
On May 24th New Zealanders have the chance to break the Guinness World Record™ for the world’s 'Largest Quiz' in the ASB Challenge – New Zealand’s Biggest Quiz Night. This will be the largest single gathering of quiz-goers ever seen in New Zealand and the evening will combine all the traditional elements of a typical pub, club or corporate quiz night.
Jackie Clarke will be the Quiz Master for the evening, providing in excess of two hundred tables of eight the opportunity to compete for the first prize of $4,000. There will be eight rounds, each with ten questions and the night will conclude with a performance from Debbie Harwood.
Currently the largest quiz ever held at one location was attended by 1,566 participants as part of 'T.I.M.E Aqua Regia The Science Quiz' organised by the T.I.M.E (Triumphant Institute of Management Education Pvt. Ltd) at Hari Hara Kalabhavan, Hyderabad, India on 3 December 2007.
Along with breaking the world record, one of the main objectives of the ASB Challenge is to raise funds to assist the Rotary Club of Auckland with their various community projects. The live and silent auctions run throughout this event will benefit a major project of the Rotary Club of Auckland – the TYLA (Turn Your Life Around) programme. TYLA’s purpose is to help to make a positive difference in the lives of young people in New Zealand who may require extra social support and are drifting into a life of crime and/ or anti-social behaviour.
“The corporate sector has really got behind this event, with most of the VIP tables being sold three weeks out from the event,” says event organiser Gregory Stewart. “Many businesses have chosen to use this event as a corporate mid-year get together and we have had to add a extra VIP tables to cater for demand.”
The ASB Challenge is New Zealand’s Biggest Quiz Night and will be run at 7pm (doors open at 6pm) on Saturday 24th May 2008, at the ASB Showgrounds in Auckland.
