Annually there is a World Refugee Day on June 20th, when we pause to reflect on the refugee journey. This year the focus on this day is "Protection, a place to call Home.

There are a number of activities being planned during the week around the 20th of June, and this match is being used to launch this programme of events on June 15th.

The focus of this game will be the fun and participation by The Invitational Team and the All Stars Team. There is absolutely no requirement that you have an understanding of sweet soccer skills or even know the offside rule or other esoteric ephemera of the game, it is simply enough that you turn up, support the event and have a good time.

Wellington Mayor Kerry Prendergast will be opening the game, and the Hon. Annette King is expected to again present the winning team with “The Hon. Annette King MP Trophy, 2007”.

Come and see some of our region’s City Councillors, Police, News Reporters, Athletes and many others play and we can promise you a Game of Soccer the likes of which you have never seen before!

Many thanks for your support. SEE YOU ON THE DAY
