Media that Matters Film Festival
Media that Matters Film Festival
Stuck for things to do this coming month? Check out Media that Matters film festival!
Media that Matters is a premiere showcase for short films on the most important topics of the day. Local and global, online and in communities around the world, Media That Matters engages diverse audiences around the world and inspires them to take action... and its happening right here in New Zealand!
Wellington Steering Committee member Corinna Howland (18) sees the event as “a forum to discuss, debate and share knowledge through what is perhaps the most potent medium of our generation - film."
Partly funded by Save the Children New Zealand, and co-ordinated by the Just Focus project, young people from all around the country have gotten together to prepare for the screenings.
“They’ve taken on the challenge of choosing the films and planning each event” says project coordinator Will Watterson. “This includes recruiting awesome speakers, and preparing games, prizes and great food! If last years festival is anything to go by, the audience will end up having a blast and learning about important issues at the same time!”
There will also be a
selection of exceptional New Zealand films included in some
of the screening, all made by New Zealand young people. The
screenings are all FREE and open to anyone and
everyone.
