“What advice would you give an 18 year old leaving home?”
This was the question posed by Maria Carlton as she asked 50 coaches, parenting and lifestyle experts, parents and authors from around the world. Within days she was inundated with great tips, advice and ideas to pass on to her 18-year-old son. The resulting book contains at least 75 great tips for young men and women striking out and starting their lives beyond home and school. Contributed to by a variety of international experts bestselling authors, mothers, fathers and grandparents from USA, Australia, South Africa and New Zealand, this book is packed with everything you’d want your teen to know as they are packing the car or jumping on a plane.
This is NOT just another book of quotes. Instead it is filled with sound advice and tips for young people. Every page is glossy and colourful, and there are gorgeous photos of young adults, enjoying great moments in time.
Maria Carlton is an international best-selling author, speaker and publisher, who has raised “two great kids” alone after the death of her husband in 1997. She knows what it’s like to struggle as a single working mother and says that this book was developed as a special tribute to her son when he turned 18, for his having been ‘her rock’ through all of those difficult years. Golden Nuggets started out as a personal project, but has been so popularly received by all who have been involved in creating it, (and her son’s friends and their families) that bringing it to market just seemed to have been the natural conclusion for this project.
Dannie Cameron has been designing books for a number of years and is exceptionally pleased with this one. She has also raised two daughters as a single working mother since 1997, and now that they are young teenagers, is thrilled that a book like this will be available for parents everywhere who want to give their children advice but knowing that many of them will listen to other adults rather than their own parents all too often.
Golden Nuggets will be a featured book at the International Book Fair in Frankfurt in October, and is already attracting interest from publishers and literary agents in Europe and the UK.
