New Zealand now has another World Champion; Thomas Lindup has taken out the under 25 age category title at the 24 hours of Adrenaline World Solo Championships held in Albetra, Canada last month.

Lindup completed 15 laps of the gruelling 20km course with 640 meters of climbing per lap.

Thomas placed 7th overall out of 200 soloists from 15 countries.

Despite racing in the under 25 age category, in this type of endurance event favouring older riders, Thomas finished ahead of all other age category riders.

This is the first time New Zealand has been represented by a male in this event.

In 2004 Jennifer O'Connor competed in the elite women's category and placed second.

The race quickly turned very muddy after heavy rain showers at the seven-hour mark that made the course more challenging.

Thomas is originally from New Plymouth but now resides in Rotorua and is studying journalism at the Waiariki Institute of Technology, where he is recovering from the hardest race of his life.

The sport Thomas Lindup gained his World under 35 title is Ultra Endurance Mountain Biking. Also know as 24 hour solo mountain biking.
