The Kid's Choixce Awards Are Coming

The Kid's Choixce Awards Are Coming

The rumours are true, oh yes – the Nickelodeon Australian Kids’ Choice Awards 2008 are coming.  During the school holidays, on Saturday 11 October the city of Melbourne may as well become known as ‘slime city’…

The 2008 awards will be held at Melbourne Park’s Hisense Arena and hosted by WWE Superstar, hip hop musician and actor, John Cena and one of Australia’s hottest stars, Natalie Bassingthwaighte. They will be supported by a whole heap of Aussie, Kiwi and Nickelodeon celebrities who will stride down the Orange Carpet, ready to take the stage (and the slime) in front of literally thousands and thousands of kids.

Nickelodeon’s Australian Kids' Choice Awards has emerged as one of the biggest events in Australasia, boasting massive audience participation. Now in its sixth year it is the only televised kids awards show in Australasia that honours kid’s opinions with a show filled with the stars they love.

As the evening unfolds, favourite stars will be awarded the famous orange blimp in a whole range of kid-voted categories.  Categories include Fave Band, Fave Song, Biggest Greenie and this year Nickelodeon has introduced an expanded range of television categories, including Fave International TV Star, Fave Reality Show, Fave Action Show, Fave Music Show, Fave Comedy Show and Fave Drama Show.

Kiwi kids will be able to get a slice of the action with the opportunity to win the chance to be the ‘Host with the Most’ on the Orange Carpet with the Nickelodeon NZ film crew at the Awards.

One lucky Kiwi kid could be presenting for Nickelodeon NZ at this year’s Nickelodeon Australian Kid’s Choice Awards in Melbourne on Saturday 11 October. Nickelodeon NZ is running the ‘Host with the Most’ competition throughout the September school holidays, calling for kids to join the Nick NZ film crew and audition for the spot.  The kid with the best audition will win tickets to the Kids' Choice Awards, where they get to interview all the celebs on the orange carpet, attend the exclusive after party and present from the awards show for Nickelodeon NZ.

“Who better to present the Kids’ Choice Awards to Kiwi kids than a Kiwi kid?!” says Lauren Nola, Nickelodeon NZ’s Marketing Manager. “We’re looking for a dedicated Nickhead aged between 5 and 15 years who can walk the walk and talk the talk, get close up and personal with all the Kiwi and Aussie celebs in attendance, and who doesn’t mind getting good and slimy with the best of them.”

The Nickelodeon film crew will be out and about in three cities in the first week of the school holidays to conduct the auditions. All kids need to do is complete and send the entry form from http://www.nicknz.co.nz, and bring it to one of three audition booths around the country (listed below). Simply show off your  personality in front of the Nick cameras by describing an event or funny story that you saw or were involved in and you could be our next Host with the Most!

Auditions are from 11am - 3pm at the following locations:
CHRISTCHURCH: Monday 29th September - Hoyts Moorhouse, 392 Moorhouse Avenue
WELLINGTON:     Tuesday 30th September - Reading Courtenay, Courtenay Place
AUCKLAND:         Wednesday 1st October - Berkeley Cinema's, Botany Town Centre

Kids outside of Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch can still enter by simply sending in a DVD of their audition piece to  Host with the Most, Nick NZ, Private Bag 92244, Victoria St West, Auckland 1142.

Go to http://nicknz.co.nz for more information and details.  Nickelodeon’s Australian Kids’ Choice Awards 2008 will air exclusively on Nickelodeon NZ (SKY Channel 41) on Saturday 25th October at 4pm. (Repeated Sunday 26th at 9am, 2.30pm and 8pm and Monday 27th at 6pm. )
