L. A. Mitchell: Live at the Matterhorn

Click for big version

It was the launch pad of Fat Freddys Drop and now the name Live at the Matterhorn returns with a showcase of a very special performance at Wellington's legendary venue with a rising star of New Zealand music

LA Mitchell announces the release of her new album Live at the Matterhorn, recorded in one unforgettable evening April 23 2008.

The entirely independent Kiwi singer-songwriter, somewhat a rarity among New Zealand's female musicians, builds on the success of her 2007 album Debut with an album that would solidify her status as one of the rising talents of homegrown music.

This year, 2008, LA Mitchell presents LA Mitchell: Live at the Matterhorn, an album of her critically acclaimed original music spliced with new tracks and reinterpretations of classics.

It is only the second Live at the Matterhorn album. The first was recorded in 2001 by Wellington supergroup Fat Freddys Drop and helped launch the band towards unparalleled success in New Zealand music.

LA Mitchell will reprise her stunning live act with two performances to launch the album, performing at Wellington's The Matterhorn on October 8, and Auckland's Khuja Lounge October 9. LA Mitchell is also performing at the Kaikoura Seafest October 4, and the Otago Arts Festival on October 5 and 6.
