Thinking Inside The Box: Boxwars North Island Show

BoxwarsNZ Press Release

THINKING INSIDE THE BOX
Or
BOXWARS NORTH ISLAND SHOWS

Following success at Big Day Out 2008 (Australia only) and Camp A Low Hum 2008, Boxwars is announcing 2 shows in the North Island. Big Flip the Massive will headline The Adelaide in Wellington (sat nov 8th), and An Auckland venue TBA.

In a bizarre mish-mash of Fight Club, a mosh pit, and an arts and crafts convention, a group of willing participants lovingly construct armour and a weapon entirely of cardboard and packing tape, before beating each other senseless to live music, and finally collapsing in a heap of shredded cardboard and drunken euphoria.

An underground movement that has spread far and wide from its roots in Melbourne, Australia, Boxwars has a presence in the UK, Australia, Canada, USA, and now New Zealand.

Boxwars has also played shows in the cultural meccas of Estonia, Finland and Germany, with support from bands such as UK Subs, Oi Polloi, U-music award winners The Very, and the succinctly named: KANSALAISTOTTELEMATTOMUUS (yeah, that one was in Finland).

To become a competitor in Boxwars, email boxwarsnz[at]hotmail.com. Entry is free for Boxwarriors, spectators $5 on the door.
