Shirriffs Sees Red

Feilding’s Craig Shirriffs was seen last weekend at the latest round of the Victoria Motorcycle Club’s winter series at Manfeild on a plain white motorcycle.

The word in the pits was “Name the motorcycle”

The answer “a Honda CBR1000RR8”

Yes, the long time Suzuki rider has changed brands, the 34 year-old has signed with Blue Wing Honda to partner New Plymouth’s Hayden Fitzgerald in the two-rider Honda team under the “Castrol Honda Red Riders” banner.

When asked “Why the change?” the quietly spoken Shirriffs simply said “I want to win”.

Shirriffs appeared completely relaxed on his new mount and showed a clean set of heels to the rest of the Superbike field all weekend, on what was basically a stock machine with Ohlin’s suspension.

Amongst those at the meeting was Error! Hyperlink reference not valid. webmaster Ian Dawson, taking footage for another episode of “On The Gas TV”.

Dawson commented “It’s been a long time, since we’ve seen a Honda so dominant in the “Big” class at Manfeild”.

“It’s looking good for the Champs,” he added
