In sanskrit, the ancient indian language at the root of many modern european languages, "yatra" is a word which signifies spiritual journey or quest. “Yatra” is also a fascinating exploration of India by Wellington photographer Karim Sahai. In the images of his photographic odyssey across Assam, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal and several other states throughout the subcontinent, Karim Sahai presents the intense hues and surprising aspects of life in India.

“Yatra, A Photographic Journey Through India” was made possible with the support of Canon New Zealand and is part of a series of events in Wellington, marking Diwali, the indian new year.
