The future on display at Design Exposure 2008

Vehicles of the future, a biodegradable bottle and a visual communication showcase on the stereotypes of red heads are just some of the projects that will be on display at this year’s Design Exposure 2008 Auckland.

Massey University Auckland School of Design Regional Director, Azhar Mohamed, said each year the School of Design celebrates New Zealand's up-and-coming transport, industrial and visual communication designers by displaying their latest projects at the exhibition.

“This year’s work is of an exceptional standard and students have produced imaginative, interesting and intriguing projects.

“Members of the public are invited to visit the exhibition and view the works of our talented students which include: the iCar – a car that explores the future possibilities of transportation in 2027; ‘See Red Project’ – a visual narrative that explores the story behind redhead stereotypes and; Snowflake - a therapeutic device designed for children with sensory processing disorder.

“Design Exposure 2008 covers a wide range of themes and ideas. The showcase will be a feast for the eyes, as well as educational – there’s something for everyone.”

Mr Mohamed said the event is a ‘highlight’ for many of the students, as they present their final projects before graduating and entering the workforce.

Design Exposure 2008 will be held at the Marine Events Centre in the Viaduct Marine Village. The exhibition is free and runs from 11-13 November from 10 a.m – 6 p.m. daily.

Massey University Auckland School of Design is a centre for scholarship, research, and design practice across a wide and integrated range of professional design disciplines. To find out more about Design Exposure 2008, visit www.designexposure.co.nz.
