Speak Out - K Batchelor

SPEAK
OUT
18 - 30 Nov
K Batchelor
Opening preview: Tuesday 18th November 5.30 - 7pm
K. Batchelor works in a unique combination of ceramics and found objects to create her delicate, poignant and powerful works. The viewer is invited into a world of cutting visual statements, beautifully crafted (with a well practised touch of the burlesque) into fascinating and refined sculptures.
Batchelor consistently uses her artistic voice to initiate positive change and speak for those without a voice. This exhibition, entitled 'Speak Out' is a call to action against animal cruelty and the choices we make every day that effect the way they are treated in the food industry and elsewhere.
In the embodiment of the theme the work seems, at least at first appearance, to belie its gravity; but as you engage with the pieces, connecting with their meanings through Batchelor's impressive visual wit, the message cuts all the deeper.
