A BALLAD FOR WOMEN’S REFUGE

Wellington singer, Jack Grabham, is making a stand against domestic violence with the launch of his new single, Bedlam Town, this month. All proceeds from sales of the single will be donated to Women’s Refuge.

Heather Henare, Women’s Refuge Chief Executive, says Jack is making a hugely positive statement. “His CD artwork and posters all incorporate the white ribbon, an internationally recognised symbol for the elimination of violence against women.”

“It’s really good to see a man taking this initiative. We would love to see more men standing up as role models and speaking out in defence of women and children.”

She says “Women’s Refuge works tirelessly to try to turn the situation around for thousands of New Zealand women and children. When you buy Jack’s CD, you are helping to make a difference in their lives.”

Jack says his song, Bedlam Town relates to his own experience as the survivor of a childhood rocked by violence in South Wales. Bedlam Town is about the relationship I never had with my sister. My father was a very violent man and it destroyed my family. I decided a long time ago not to go down that path in my own life”

He says, “White Ribbon Day is on the 25th of November. I hope we see heaps of blokes wearing white ribbons on that day and starting to think about how we might turn things around.”
