Givealittle Victoria Bushfire Challenge

Media Statement
For Immediate Release - 12 February 2009

New Zealand Red Cross & Givealittle Victoria Bushfire Challenge

This morning Givealittle.co.nz has set a challenge to New Zealand to raise funds for the 2009 Victorian Bushfire Fund in partnership with the New Zealand Red Cross. Proactive New Zealand businesses are starting to prepare fundraising pages to show their support.

The New Zealand Red Cross Bushfire Relief Fund is the recipient of the challenge donations made via Givealittle. All donations will be directed to New Zealand Red Cross for the official fund operated by the Victorian Government and supported by the Australian Red Cross.

‘We are very grateful to be the recipient of the Givealittle Bushfire Challenge and hope that New Zealanders and businesses really get behind this special and important project’, says Clare Cain of New Zealand Red Cross.

Early adopters to the challenge include:

Flossie Media Group, Movac Angel Investors, Madefromnewzealand.com

These groups are sending the challenge to their networks and members asking them to give. Several more associations and businesses are creating campaigns today.

Givealittle CEO Nathalie Hofsteede is proud that Givealittle allows individuals and organisations to quickly react in times of need. ‘Givealittle was created to facilitate support for the things New Zealanders care about and allows us to achieve great things together as a group. I can’t think of a better opportunity for New Zealand to join together to demonstrate our compassion for those affected by the Victorian fires. It only took minutes for the New Zealand Red Cross project to go online and another 10 minutes to mobilise the networks of three great Kiwi businesses”, said Ms Hofsteede.

Donations can be made online now at www.givealittle.co.nz/fires.

Any industry association, business or network group who wishes to create a fundraising page tagged to the project is encouraged to do so, contact 0508 GIVEALITTLE for assistance.
