Jackson Browne - Show Next Week!
For Immediate Release - February 17 2009 Jackson Browne - Show Next Week!
Singer-songwriter Jackson Browne continues his 'Time the Conqueror' World Tour with an eagerly-awaited string of dates in Australia, before heading to New Zealand next week for one show only at the Civic Theatre on Wednesday 25 February.
An itinerary in the U.K. and Europe follows, commencing in Ireland on March 21 with dates in England, Ireland, Scotland, Germany, Holland, Belgium, France, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Spain and Italy currently booked through May 21.
Browne's world tour launched with a U.S. leg in September 2008 coinciding with the release of 'Time the Conqueror', produced by Browne and Paul Dieter, his first studio set since 2002.
The tour opened in Washington, with the Washington Post's review noting: "The new material demonstrated that Browne, just a few weeks shy of 60, still has a terrific touch. That was particularly true on the contemplative, vividly drawn title track of 'Time the Conqueror,' the soaring if wistful 'Giving That Heaven Away' and the echoing, atmospheric 'Live Nude Cabaret'. When it was done - after a reggaefied encore version of 'I Am a Patriot' - Browne thanked the audience for having indulged him. He needn't have: the pleasure was ours."
Accompanying Browne on the road is his band of fifteen years: Kevin McCormick (bass), Mark Goldenberg (guitars), Mauricio Lewak (drums) and Jeff Young (keyboards, backing vocals), accompanied by new members backing vocalists Chavonne Morris and Alethea Mills.
In addition to the new material from 'Time the Conqueror', the tour spotlights selections from throughout Browne's entire career. It will be his first tour of Australia with his band in five years.
'Time The Conqueror' continues to be lauded as amongst Browne's best work:
"The album is the music of an angry man but the result is honest, raw, soulful music with exquisite vocals Browne hasn't displayed in 20 years." (Melbourne Sunday Herald Sun) "The years of singing and touring and making political noise has taken no toll on his vocal chords. Jackson Browne sounds just as he did when he recorded "Take It Easy" all those years ago... Browne is still singing about what matters and the spirit of his generation lives in his music and his thoughts. We need more of that." (fasterlouder.com) "The hardest times inspire the greatest art. Mr Bush has even worn down the seemingly indomitable Jackson Browne, but the consequence is some of Browne's most inspired work." (Rhythms magazine)
Since his acclaimed 1972 self-titled debut album, Jackson Browne has defined a genre of song-writing and performing that is charged with honesty, emotion and personal politics. He's been recognized with inductions into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (2004) and the Songwriter's Hall of Fame (2007), with recent humanitarian honours including the John Steinbeck Award and the Chapin-World Hunger Year Harry Chapin Humanitarian Award.
In January 2009, Browne performed at the Health for All Blue Diamond Ball-held at the Smithsonian Institution's Natural History Museum-in celebration of President Obama's inauguration. The Australasian tour offers fans the chance to experience the more intimate environment of theatre shows.
