Te Uhi Ta Moko Artists back again at WOMAD

Te Uhi Ta Moko Artists back again at the WOMAD Festival in Taranaki 2009

Te Uhi a Mataora – Toi Maori Aotearoa, a collective of the country’s top Maori Ta Moko Artists, are pleased to be invited again by Tui Ora Ltd to display their talent and skills at this years WOMAD festival.

Renowned artist’s Rangi Kipa, Julie Kipa, Turumakina Duleyz and Heemi Sundgren will display their skills and creation of moko at Te Paepae, an area hosted by Tui Ora Ltd and Taranaki iwi who will be welcoming guests to the venue.

According to Mark Kopua and Derek Lardelli, Co-Chairs of Te Uhi, “We are pleased that Te Uhi has been invited back again to demonstrate our art form at WOMAD and working alongside the local iwi. Last years invitation to WOMAD was fantastic, and no doubt, this year will be the same! This is a gathering of world travelling musicians and dancers and many of them will again seek a permanent mark of their time in New Zealand."

Te Uhi will be displaying their talents at the WOMAD festival on Friday 13 March to Sunday 15 March 2009.
