“Sir+Plus takes credit for titular
reinstatement.”
Following the announcement by NZ Prime Minister, John Key of titular honours being reinstated. Local celebrity and self proclaimed tit-list, Sir+Plus, had this to say.
“Well, it’s no surprise really, although I’m interested to see how the new title bearers will stack up against some of my idols. Sir Mix-a-lot, Lady Day, Prince Tui Teka and my dear friend Lady Muck for example.”
When asked about his own title, Sir+Plus remarked “its not the size of the title, its what you do with it. I’m donating mine to charity to benefit the pocket of a young local musician that I’ve been mentoring through the performance process. He has a ways to go yet but I feel confident that he’ll get there.”

“I’ve heard Waipara’s new album and the musical variety is startling. One song recalls The Platters or The Moonglows with the kind of shimmering doo-wop pop you imagine drifting from the jukebox while lovesick teenagers slow-danced at a 1950’s American diner. Elsewhere there’s weightless Bacharach-style bossa nova, some soulful jazz-inflected folk songs, snatches of French chanson and Motown, even a song with the kind of skiffle once employed by The Kinks.”
