PM John Key says Givealittle.co.nz leading the way
The Hon. John Key today referred to Givealittle.co.nz as example of the non-government sector leading the way connecting people to causes with the power of web technology.
Mr Key, addressing the Philanthropy New Zealand conference in Wellington, also spoke about initiatives that the National Government is working on to encourage individual philanthropy including gifting tax rebates on donations to the organisation originally supported and payroll giving.
These two initiatives are already available at Givealittle.co.nz with the ability to gift a tax rebate an automated process managed by Givealittle.co.nz for its members.
Givealittle.co.nz’s founding CEO Nathalie Hofsteede agrees with Mr Key’s closing comments about promoting generosity, ‘Givealittle.co.nz was founded with the aim of normalising giving in New Zealand and providing every possible opportunity for Kiwi’s to engage with the things they care about’.
‘We want to ensure people feel proud and good about their giving. We already have the online systems in place to manage gifting of tax rebates and payroll giving disbursement and welcome any legislation that encourages Kiwi’s to give,’ said Ms Hofsteede.
Givealittle.co.nz has already facilitated thousands of donation dollars to the New Zealand community sector and a variety of projects for good in just three months of launching the live website.
