Registrations are now open for the 4th New
Zealand Gypsy Jazz Workshop taking place in Wellington in
July 2009.
Following the popularity of the last 3 New Zealand Gypsy Jazz Workshops, 20 guitarists will have an opportunity to study this amazing style with exponents of the style in a friendly supportive environment.
Originally played by Django Reinhardt and gypsies in France in the 1930s, this incredible guitar style has recently undergone a global resurgence in the hands of guitarists like Bireli Lagrene, Stochelo Rosenberg and Romane.
This 2-day weekend workshop will cater for beginners as well as advanced guitarists and is ideal for guitar players of any style looking to broaden their outlook and improve their technique. Expert Jazz guitarists Leigh Jackson and Chris Williamson have been confirmed as the tutors for this event guaranteeing an exciting informative weekend studying jazz soloing, Gypsy rhythm guitar, chord voicings and jamming.
