Teddy Bears Rule !!

In its 50th Year of existence, St Kentigern School is planning to reach another milestone. It is hoping to make the Guinness Book of World Records by creating the longest Human Teddy Bear Chain. This involves people being linked together, with just a soft Teddy between each one of them.

The Chairman of the Parents and Friends Association for the Remuera Primary School, Mark Conelly, said “it was an idea that we came up with to make a sponsored Fun Run more memorable for the School in its Jubilee Year. We Googled various World Records and came up with the idea of a Human Teddy Bear Chain. The younger boys have been taken by the idea of being able to bring their Teddy along, while the older boys have been attracted to the prospect of being included in the Guinness Book of World Records”

The World Record Attempt is on this Sunday, starting at 11am. In order to reach the world record, Mr Conelly advises that the school needs over 2,500 people and their Teddies of course !!

“Anyone is welcome to come and join in. It is not very often that we get to participate in a World Record Attempt and make history. Just bring your Teddy and a Gold Coin to participate” he said. The event will also feature other activities and food stalls. Only Teddies will be accepted as there are strict rules provided by the Guinness organisation. The proceeds of the World Record Attempt and other Fundraising activities on the same day are going toward a Sports Centre currently being built at the School.

Any Teddies left after the attempt will be donated to Charity.

The event is being held at Martyn Wilson Field, on Shore Road in Remuera on Sunday, 5th April. Those wishing to join in are most welcome and are encouraged to arrive from 10.30am so preparations for the World Record Attempt can commence.
