Auckland Resident Becomes Instant Millionaire
BRISBANE, Apr. 8 /Medianet International-AsiaNet/ --
Mission Bay (Auckland) resident, Mrs Jones* has just been announced as the latest winner in the Australian RSL Art Union.
The 67 year old has won a $1.4 million waterfront property portfolio in the heart of Queensland's Gold Coast.
The prize is the largest sized home in the RSL Art Union's 53 year history and may generate a rental income return of $62,400 annually.
Mrs Jones* said that she had never won anything in her life and that she planned to retire with her husband in their prize home within the next few years.
``I didn't believe that I had won, I thought it was a hoax call,’’ she said.
``My family has holidayed on Australia's Gold Coast for years and now my dream of retiring there is a reality.
``My mother had been buying RSL Art Union tickets for as long as I can remember and when she passed away I continued purchasing them in her memory, so I have her to thank for this,’’ Mrs Jones* said.
RSL Art Union General Manager of Fundraising, Mr George Mialkowski, said that Mrs Jones* was in complete disbelief when he made the call today to announce her win.
``RSL Art Union prize homes are won by New Zealand residents on a regular basis, and third prize in today's draw went to a Christchurch winner,’’ he said.
``The money raised from the RSL Art Union helps support our ANZAC heroes.
``This is especially significant as we pause to pay our respects to the ANZAC's on April 25th,’’ Mr Mialkowski said.
Mrs Jones* and her family will be travelling to Australia next week for the handover of the prize.
In its 53 year history, funds raised by the RSL Art Union have contributed to the development and maintenance of RSL nursing homes and retirement complexes as well as providing welfare and advocacy for ex-servicemen and women and their families.
Secure your tickets in the latest RSL Art Union today by calling 0800 450 970 (within New Zealand) or order tickets online via the RSL Art Union website www.rslartunion.com.au.
The RSL Art Union has given away $140 million in prizes and has contributed over $100 million for the development and maintenance of RSL nursing homes, retirement complexes as well as providing welfare and advocacy for ex-servicemen and women.
