The Creative Role of the Producer
The Creative Role of the Producer
Screenwriter and producer Christina Milligan will talk about what it means to be a creative producer with Philippa Campbell (Rain, Black Sheep, No. 2, Rubbings from a Live Man), Fiona Copland (The Price of Milk, Topless Women Talk about their Lives, The Strength of Water) and short film producer Nik Beachman (part of the NZFC Executive Producer group that produced Run, Fog and Nature’s Way).
What is the producer’s creative role from the outset of development through to delivery to an audience? Starting with the differences between the producer and the line-producer, the panel will discuss the process of creative producing, including the key collaborative relationships with the writer, director and financier in both film and television.
