Robyn Malcolm to Host Film Awards & Gala

Outrageous Fortune star Robyn Malcolm will be greeted by a living green carpet on 16 May when she arrives at the Regent Theatre in Palmerston North to host the gala opening and awards night for Australasia's leading environmental film festival.

The actress who's best known on television for her ability to negotiate crime deals and killer heels as Cheryl West in Outrageous Fortune is also a vocal campaigner for the environment. Robyn supports causes such as Greenpeace, the World Wildlife Fund, and is the ambassador for Right House, an energy efficiency housing company.

Malcolm will host the gala opening and awards for the Reel Earth Environmental Film Festival. The evening includes live music, visiting filmmakers from Europe the Americas and Australasia
The gala awards launch Reel Earth's 5th Festival Season, in which the 25 top feature films from among hundreds of entries will make their world or Australasian premiere in Palmerston North.

Robyn is no stranger to awards, being named Best Actress in the 2008 Qantas Film and Television Awards, and garnering the TV Guide Best On The Box award for Sexiest Woman on Television again in 2009.

"We're honored to have Robyn Malcolm host the gala opening and Reel Earth Awards this year" says Festival Director Brent Barrett. "She brings glam to green, and her own strong commitment to doing what you can about the environmental issues we face. The Reel Earth gala is a fantastic chance to see Robyn Malcolm in person," says Mr. Barrett.

The gala also features live music from Raglan-based singer songwriter Anna Coddington, and announcement of the winners in the Best Feature Film and Best New Zealand Film in the Reel Earth Awards.

Reel Earth's 2009 Festival Season extends from 17 - 30 May in Palmerston North.
